Liechtenstein: tokenization regime, cost and constraints
Registration as TT service provider or token issuer. Fits when: narrow eea case where the token-law vocabulary maps cleanly to the structure. The constraint to plan around: tvtg registration is not a financial-services licence and carries no passport by itself.

Liechtenstein wrote its token law before the EU did, and the TVTG's Token Container Model is still the most conceptually clean framing in Europe: a token is a container, and what matters is the right you put inside it. For an issuer whose structure genuinely maps onto that vocabulary, the registration route is faster and cheaper than the alternatives — the published figures here are among the few that exist at all.
The trap is assuming registration is authorisation. Registering as a TT service provider is not a financial-services licence, carries no passport of its own, and does not answer what happens when the right inside the container is a security. If your token is a transferable security or a fund unit, the EEA securities framework applies on top, and the TVTG does not soften it.

What changed recently
The TVTG has been in force since 2020; it predates MiCA and now coexists with it.
Before you rely on this
This page is reference material, not legal advice, and a regime that changed after 22 July 2026 may no longer match what is above. Verify against the regulator's own material and check any claimed licence against the official register — in a market moving this fast, a claimed regulatory status is not a confirmed one.
